The Miller Milling Innovation and Technical Center is under construction.

Blomingham, Minnesota: In Saginaw, Texas, Miller Milling Co. has started building its Innovation and Technical Center. It will support its five US mills, two Canadian mills owned by sibling business Rogers Foods, and be open to customers.

The facility will make it possible to test and analyze baking procedures for a variety of flours and goods, from grains to baked goods. According to Miller Milling, it will contain a full bakery that will significantly improve the company’s consumer offers and a small-scale mill that can mimic the grain production of the company’s major mills.

Kevin Sebby, vice president of sales and marketing at Miller Milling, stated, “Adding the Innovation and Technical Center allows us to gather valuable data about our products and bring more proactive solutions to our customers, whether they purchase by the bag or in bulk.”

According to the company, customers will also be able to get professional guidance and insight into product development through in-house testing and chances for manufacturing enhancements.

“Having these processes in-house allows us to provide real benefits to our customers and our mills,” Sebby stated. We’ll be able to provide the mills with timely data and better assist our clients of all sizes by evaluating the flours they use and handling everything from on-site troubleshooting to product baking. The growth of goods made by regenerative agriculture is a prime example. We can invite a consumer in, bake the products, and compare the outcomes with a traditional product if we are introducing flour or another product to them.

The project is being led by Frank Dale Construction of Southlake, Texas, and it began with a groundbreaking on December 18. The structure is expected to be finished by the end of 2024.

Additionally, Miller Milling is enlarging its Saginaw flour mill, bringing the plant’s daily capacity up to 10,000 cwts. With an increased daily flour production capacity of 34,000 cwt, the mill will rank third in the United States. The extension is anticipated to be finished by late this year or early 2025. It was first announced in March of 2023.
