Superlatus transformed into protein-focused snacks

The pulse-based protein twists, according to Superlatus, will include 20% less salt (200 mg), around 300% more protein (8 grams), 200% more fiber (3 grams), 40% less fat (6 grams), and 67% less saturated fat (0.5 grams) than traditional snacks. As a proof of concept, the twisted protein snacks are currently offered under various private brands in 300 Canadian federated cooperatives.

“Every day, 29.6 million students are fed school lunches by over 100,000 schools and institutions,” stated Tim Alford, the acting CEO of Superlatus. “We are aware that the most popular commodities offered at school vending machines are soft drinks and regular chips. By controlling and directing the better-for-you (BFY) snack market throughout all of the continental United States’ schools, colleges, and universities States, because our products are chemical-free, have a long shelf life, and don’t require freezing, we have a special chance to grow quickly.

The protein twists will be available through The Urgent Co., a Superlatus subsidiary, under the Brave Robot brand. Brave Robot makes lactose-free, vegan ice cream with Perfect Day, Inc.’s animal-free whey protein. In the meanwhile, The Urgent Co. creates animal-free foods with less of an impact on the environment through creativity and science. Early in 2024, Superlatus plans to launch Brave Robot products in the US market.
