SunOpta joins the snack bar market
TORONTO — Arbour Bar, a line of bars produced with five ingredients or less, is SunOpta Inc.’s entry into the snack bar market.
Three flavours of Arbour bars—Apple + Berries, Apple + Blueberry, and Apple + Raspberry—are available; each has 100 calories and 0 grammes of added sugar. The bars are created from apples from the Pacific Northwest, are certified organic, and are non-GMO.
Michael Buick, senior vice president and general manager at SunOpta, stated, “We wanted to create a certified organic bar that elevates and celebrates the simple goodness of fruit with 0 grammes of added sugar and only five ingredients or less. Many fruit-based snacks are really faux candy.” “By incorporating owned brands into our current co-manufacturing and private label go-to-market strategy, SunOpta has three additional avenues for growth through innovation.” Thirty percent of the growth in our fastest growing business unit—plant-based meals and beverages—has come from new items in the previous six months. We hope to infuse our fruit business unit with the same innovation-focused mindset.
Arbour bars retail for $6.49 in suggested retail locations across the country and are sold in boxes of five.
