Sucro acquires most operating assets of Marigold, Inc.
Sucro announced that it has acquired the running assets of Marigold, Inc., which included a transfer station at the University Park location as well as sugar distribution warehouses in Atlanta and University Park, Ill.
According to Sucro, the new buildings are strategically placed to offer plenty of storage space as well as easy access to road and rail transit for rapid turnaround times.
According to the firm, Sweet Life Services, a 100% owned subsidiary of Sucro, will handle the distribution of cane sugar products and value-added services related to organic and specialty sugars. Products and services from the two locations will be offered under this new company.
In order to provide a distribution warehouse and transfer station (bulk rail to bulk truck) in the Chicago area, Marigold was founded in 1976. In 2018, Marigold assumed management of an Atlanta distribution and warehouse facility. The business has experience with a range of dry and liquid sweetener products, including organic ones. It had University Park as its base.
A few months ago, Marigold encountered financial difficulties; in late November, its assets were divided. Prior to now, United Sugars Corp. declared that it had purchased Marigold’s South Chicago liquid sugar plant.
Sucro had earlier disclosed that it was constructing a new sugar refinery at its facility in Lackawanna, New York, which was formerly the site of the long-closed Bethlehem Steel plant.
According to Jonathan Taylor, Sucro’s CEO, “Sucro is rapidly growing its processing and distribution network of high-value cane and organic sugar products and services.” “This acquisition will better position Sucro to support its leading organic sugar business and other high-value cane sugar services for its customers, along with the recently announced sugar refinery in Lackawanna.”
