Subway rotates its executive staff.
Miami With effect from September 5, Douglas Fry, who serves as Subway Canada’s country director, has been elevated to the position of president of North America. Trevor Haynes, who has overseen the division for the last eighteen years and is set to retire at the end of 2023, will be succeeded by him. According to Subway, Mr. Fry and Mr. Haynes will collaborate during the final few months of the year to guarantee a seamless transfer.
Since joining Subway in October 2021, Mr. Fry has shown “tremendous success” in Canada over the previous two years, according to the firm. He has achieved record-breaking average unit volumes and good traffic trends. He spent nine years as McDonald’s senior corporate director of national operations before joining Subway. Additionally, he held positions as corporate director of strategic sourcing/purchasing at Cara Operations, vice president of operations and guest experience at Cara Operations (now Recipe Unlimited), and corporate manager of business marketing and sales at Kraft Foods Group.
“As Doug takes on this new role, I’m excited to see him continue building on our growth and progress in North America. Doug’s impact in Canada has been nothing short of remarkable,” Mr. Haynes stated. “I am convinced that Doug will have a significant influence on the brand’s future, and it was an honor to be involved in his selection as my successor.”Subway made a number of leadership announcements, including Mr. Fry’s elevation.
Former global chief marketing officer Carrie Walsh was recently appointed president of EMEA, where she is in charge of managing all operations for more than 6,200 franchised Subway stores across 50 countries and territories. Before becoming chief marketing officer of North America for Subway in October 2019, Ms. Walsh held the position of senior vice president of marketing at The Michaels Companies, Inc. She previously held the positions of vice president of marketing and chief marketing officer for Pizza Hut’s US operations. She also worked for PepsiCo, Inc. for more than seven years, holding a number of positions such as national account manager for Frito-Lay and Walgreens, senior director of portfolio strategy and marketing, and senior marketing director for SunChips.
Mike Kehoe, who will take over as global chief development officer upon his return to the United States on October 16, was succeeded by Ms. Walsh. He will be responsible for establishing the company’s worldwide development strategy, both conventional and nontraditional, in the recently formed position. He spent more than two years as head of Focus Brands’ international operations before joining Subway in May 2020. In addition, he has held positions as management consultant at Bain & Co., worldwide marketing director for juices at The Coca-Cola Company, and vice president of international marketing at Bloomin’ Brands, Inc. Procter & Gamble Co. was where he started his career in brand management.

The position of senior vice president of US marketing went to Cristina Wells. Ms. Wells began working for Subway in December 2016 as the senior director of marketing for Canada. As of August 2021, she has held the position of vice president of US marketing. She worked for Tim Hortons as director of brand marketing, senior manager of digital and rewards, senior manager of marketing communications, and marketing manager for restaurant communications before joining Subway. She also worked in a range of marketing management roles at Unilever PLC for more than six years.
