Slideshow: New offerings from Starbucks, First Watch, and Krispy Kreme
Limited-time breakfast options are being added to foodservice businesses as they ring in the new year.
The Biscoff brand of donuts, which made its US premiere in January of last year, is making a comeback from Krispy Kreme. Customers can purchase three Biscoff-inspired donuts, developed in association with Lotus Bakeries, for a certain period of time. The Biscoff cookie butter iced donut is back from last year, and the new donuts include a Biscoff cookie butter cheesecake and a Biscoff chocolate iced cookie butter crunch.
“We had to bring back Biscoff and make every bite even better because our fans loved when last year’s Biscoff donuts landed in the United States,” stated Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme. “There’s more Biscoff cookie butter, crunch, and sweetness in these donuts than ever. Biscoff has returned to Krispy Kreme.
First Watch Restaurants, Inc. debuted its first limited-edition menu for 2024, drawing inspiration from local culinary destinations such as Mexico City and Brooklyn. A few things on the new menu are the barbacoa chilaquiles breakfast bowl, holey donuts, blackberry lemon cream French toast, mango passion palmer juice, and a Brooklyn breakfast sandwich.
Shane Schaibly, head chef at First Watch, remarked, “This season’s dishes embrace the momentum of the new year while also appealing to those seeking comfort fare during colder months.” “Normally, as spring approaches, we soften our winter dishes, but this year, we’re leaning toward the decadence of savory meats and flavorful layers. This sentiment is embodied in our new Brooklyn breakfast sandwich, which has the flavor profile of a New York deli counter and the appearance of an everything bagel.
As part of its winter menu launch, Starbucks is also introducing three food items, which will be available at a time when the corporation is attempting to expand its $6 billion food business. A potato, cheddar, and chive bake; a vanilla bean custard Danish; and a chicken, maple butter, and egg sandwich are among the offerings. The chain will always serve egg sandwiches, however the Danish and Bakes will only be served for a short period of time.

Freshta Khosravi, a member of Starbucks’ food development team, stated, “We were inspired by the familiar breakfast casserole, and the savory combination of diced potatoes, cheese, spinach, chives, and eggs offers 12 grams of protein at only 210 calories for a comforting breakfast on-the-go.”
