Slideshow: New Cold Stone, Starbucks, and Sonic menu items
Kansas City Restaurants are incorporating the flavors of traditional fried and baked goods, such as cheesecake, cake, and funnel cakes, into innovative menu items including drinks and ice cream desserts.
Starbucks has introduced a Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino, a blended drink that combines funnel cake with Frappuccino. Blended with a syrup that tastes like funnel cake, roast coffee, milk, and ice are coated with whipped cream and strawberry puree. Crunchy funnel cake bits covered in powdered sugar are atop the beverage.
Sara Bennett, senior product developer for Starbucks’ R&D team, said, “We wanted to capture the joy of this time of year, and we thought about those simple pleasures that really encapsulate summer.” We went to state fairs and funnel cakes as a result, trying to capture that unfettered joy.
Strawberries are my favorite food because they are so summery. You taste the sweet and slightly salty dough, the luscious strawberry flavor, the rich whipped cream, and finally the powdered sugar. That, in my opinion, is the classic funnel cake.

Two new Blast desserts from Sonic that taste like cheesecake are now available. In the Strawberry Cheesecake Blast, strawberries are added to the mixture, while in the Cheesecake Blast, cheesecake and graham cracker bits are swirled into vanilla ice cream.

Cold Stone Creamery has introduced two new creations featuring their reimagined traditional cake batter ice cream: Strawberry Cake Batter Ice Cream and Marbled Cake Batter Ice Cream.
Whereas the Marble-ous Cake Batter Creation has Marbled Cake Batter Ice Cream, Yellow Cake, Brownie, and Caramel, the Strawberry Batter Batter Creation has Strawberry Cake Batter Ice Cream, Red Velvet Cake, Graham Cracker Pie Crust, and Whipped Topping.
According to Sara Schmillen, vice president of marketing at Kahala Brands, the business that owns Cold Stone Creamery, “Cake Batter Ice Cream is quintessentially Cold Stone Creamery.” “We wanted to honor our best-selling flavor and give it a wonderful makeover, so we came up with two more flavors with a cake batter concept that everyone would love.
