Scaling up with the AmeriQual transaction, Harlan Bakeries

AmeriQual Group Holdings, LLC, a developer, packager, and distributor of shelf-stable, refrigerated or frozen foods, sauces, and condiments for branded food companies, federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as a number of educational and other institutions, has been acquired by Harlan Bakeries LLC from Evansville, Indiana.

The deal was supported by structured equity financing from Turning Rock Partners, a New York-based company, and new capital was also contributed by management and current shareholders.

Hugh and Doug Harlan founded Harlan Bakeries, LLC in 1991. The company distributes goods internationally, specializes in private label baked goods, and is the maker of the Harlan Bigger Better Bagels, Harlan Giant Gourmet Bagels, Harvest’s Best, and Nature’s Grain brands. Harlan provides clients with pastries, cakes, pies, bagels, and cookies. muffins and bread. In addition, Harlan is a contract manufacturer. Harlan operates seven production facilities located in Avon, Ind.; Indianapolis; Madison, Wis.; Denver; Hope, Ark.; Kentville, NS; and Edmonton, Alta.
