Quinoa company to be acquired by Ardent Mills

With the proposed acquisition of Andean Naturals’ quinoa sourcing, cleaning, and packaging operations in Yuba City, California, Ardent Mills is expanding its capabilities with specialty grains. The agreement’s terms were kept a secret.

The transaction is anticipated to finalize in the middle of February, and Ardent Mills, the company’s specialty grain and plant-based ingredient business unit, will run the new venture under The Annex.

According to Daniel P. Dye, CEO of Ardent Mills, “our industry is rapidly changing as consumers’ appetite for variety in their diets continues to increase.” In order to satisfy consumer demand for premium, nutrient-dense grains and other sources of plant-based products, we are proactively investing in The Annex. We will be able to provide a comprehensive solution for quinoa and other gluten-free ingredients with this acquisition.

The Ardent Mills gluten-free sourcing and cleaning operation in Yuba City will be the company’s first, and it will allow the company to grow into additional grain categories in the future.

After the deal closes, Ardent Mills will welcome Andean Naturals’ founder and president, Sergio Nunez de Arco.
