Private equity firm snags stake in specialty foods maker
The majority of Petaluma, California-based Rustic Bakery, which makes organic and specialised goods like crackers, crisps, cookies and biscuits, has been acquired by San Francisco Equity Partners (SFEP). The conditions of payment were not revealed.
Established in 2005 by Carol LeValley and her spouse Josh Harris, Rustic Bakery uses ingredients gathered locally in its Petaluma production facility to create its organic and non-GMO products. Over 5,000 retailers in North America, including club, e-commerce, specialty, natural and traditional supermarket, and foodservice outlets, carry the company’s products. Additionally, Rustic Bakery has four cafes in Marin, California.
Managing partner at SFEP Scott Potter remarked, “Rustic Bakery is a strong, authentic brand built on exceptionally high quality.” “We see a big opportunity to grow the brand’s customer base, distribution, and product line. We’re excited to support the company on its next phase of growth by putting our operational and strategic resources to work.”
