Petco executive hired by Flowers for a sales position
James Simms is the senior vice president of DSD sales operations (direct-store delivery) for Flowers Foods, Inc. Simms answers to President and Chief Operating Officer Heeth Varnedoe in his new position.
Prior to joining Flowers Foods, Simms held the position of vice president and PepsiCo client lead at PepsiCo, Inc. According to Flowers, he was responsible for strategic growth with major retailers for all of PepsiCo’s brands, which included Tropicana, Gatorade, Frito-Lay, Pepsi, and Quaker Foods. He worked with PepsiCo for twenty years, holding progressively more responsible sales leadership positions.
Simms worked for US Foods, Staples Inc., and Cardinal Health Inc. before to joining PepsiCo.Virginia State University, Virginia State University, Va. is the source of his bachelor’s degree in science.

James joins the Flowers team with a wealth of sales expertise and a keen understanding of the always changing CPG (consumer packaged goods) industry, according to Varnedoe. “His problem-solving, team-building, leadership, and visionary abilities will be crucial to the success of our current and upcoming sales strategies.”
Simms is on the boards of Corners Outreach, an organization that promotes economic and educational opportunities for underprivileged adolescents of color in Metro Atlanta, and the Kappa Alpha Psi National Foundation.
