New line of plant-based ingredients from Steuben Foods
Through its Steuben GNS products Division, Steuben Foods Inc. introduced a line of plant-based products.
The company’s exclusive HydroReleased method, which uses water’s power to activate and release the vital nutrients in whole grains, nuts, and seeds, is used to make the components. According to the firm, the released nutrients aid in the preservation, emulsification, protection, and enhancement of protein, carbs, fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals’ usefulness and digestion.
The resulting milk-like, shelf-stable ingredients come in powder or liquid concentrate form. They can be applied to a wide range of plant-based food and beverage applications to develop innovative products with clear ingredient labels and neutral flavors.
According to the company, producers can incorporate more plant-based ingredients into food items due to the special properties of freed nutrients, which eliminate the customary fouling or burn-on that results from heating grain flours, nuts, or seed pastes. Furthermore, because the conventional heating and chemical extraction method deactivates the nutrients, stabilizers, emulsifiers, and refined oils, there is no longer a need for them.
