Investment improves Capitol Food blending and packaging facility
Capital Food Co. has made financial expenditures to upgrade its blending and packaging facilities in La Mirada, California. The company supplies conventional and organic ingredients to the food and baking industries across the United States.
The capacity of recently built flour packaging machinery for bags of flour is more than 65 million pounds (29,500 tonnes) per year. The packaging area has an entirely automated drying system and computerised weighing.
The renovated La Mirada factory is SQF (Safe Quality Food) certified, kosher, halal, and certified organic by the Non-GMO Project. The facility can unload ingredients from bulk trucks or bulk rail carriages into three distinct dry mixing lines. Capitol Food Co., located in Cerritos, claims that the recipe precision of PLC systems guarantees the correct product every time. Categories for dry blending include drink bases, coatings, breading and batters, flavouring blends, and baking mixes and bases. The company can combine more than 100 million pounds (45,400 tonnes) of dry material every year.
