The Hershey Company is rethinking the way that chocolate bars are produced. Although the company’s technical teams are experimenting with a modular approach, the majority of its processing lines are built for efficiency and scale.

According to Mr. Bonifant, the modular concept “can absorb” some of the inherent complexity of traditional manufacturing lines and improve overall network efficiency.
