Mondelez stated, “As part of our environmental monitoring programme, we became aware of this issue.” “We are acting out of caution as we have not received any reports of illness related to this issue to date.”
The bacteria known as Listeria monocytogenes can infect small children, the elderly, the frail, and persons with compromised immune systems, leading to serious and occasionally deadly illnesses. While a high temperature, intense headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhoea are simply temporary symptoms that healthy people may experience, pregnant women who contract listeria infection run the risk of miscarriages and stillbirths customers who possess the products are being urged by Mondelez to discard them rather than consume them.
