General Mills’ Ohio cereal factory will undergo renovations
Cincinnati — Plans to invest $28 million to develop a cereal production factory in Sharonville, Ohio, have been revealed by General Mills, Inc. General Mills stated that as part of the expansion, it will update the facility, bring in new machinery, and start up new training initiatives to assist in the development of fresh talent. With 200 employees now, the plant is planned to add 33 more positions in total.
Jay Sampson, General Mills’ plant manager in Cincinnati, stated, “At General Mills, we’re accelerating our business and investing meaningfully in our people, brands, and capabilities to make food the world loves.” “We are pleased to direct that investment towards the wonderful city of Sharonville, which is the birthplace of numerous popular cereals, such as Chex, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cookie Crisp, Fiber One, and Cheerios Oat Crunch.”By February 2022, the business hopes to have finished the building.
The mayor of Sharonville, Kevin Hardman, expressed how much the city values General Mills’ longstanding involvement in the local business community. “We are grateful that Sharonville was selected for this major capital project, which will increase investment and create jobs in our community.”

In order to develop additional product manufacturing lines and generate 18 jobs, General Mills committed $45 million in 2011 to expand the Sharonville plant. The Ohio Department of Development authorized a $100,000 Rapid Outreach Grant to General Mills Operations, LLC for the expenses related to the purchase of new machinery and equipment as part of that expansion.
