CEO of Believer Meats named

Gustavo Burger has been appointed chief executive officer of Believer Meats, a company that produces cultivated meat and was previously known as Future Meat Technologies, with immediate effect.

Mr. Burger, who was Chief Operating Officer of Believer when Nicole Johnson-Hoffman left to pursue other possibilities, assumes the position.

“We are ecstatic that Gustavo has taken on the role of CEO,” Believer’s founder and president Yaakov Nahmias stated. “We are confident that he will successfully lead us as we transition from a food tech startup to a leading pioneer of a new food category. He has been a key part of the company’s growth and success to date.”

Mr. Burger oversaw the company’s supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing operations while serving as COO. He also played a significant role in the groundbreaking of Believer’s 200,000 square foot production facility. His tenure as global procurement director at Anheuser-Busch InBev and operations executive at Kraft Heinz Co. have given him further leadership expertise.

Mr. Burger graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management and business administration from São Paulo, Brazil’s Trevisan Business School.

Mr. Burger remarked, “It is an honor and a thrill to lead Believer as its CEO as we successfully and strategically accelerate our business.” “With the advent of cellular agriculture, we are at the forefront of a new era in food, and I look forward to working with our world-class global team to bring our cultivated meat products to consumers around the globe.”
