Buyout of Lake Foods by Brakebush Brothers

The Hartwell, Georgia-based Lake Foods has been acquired by Brakebush Brothers Inc. A portioning plant for raw, scaled, marinated, and ready-to-cook chicken items is operated by Lake Foods. The transaction’s financial details were kept a secret.

Gregory Huff, the president and CEO of Brakebush, expressed his excitement about the transaction. “This facility’s values, knowledge, and skills put us in a great position to aggressively pursue new business and grow our existing customer base.”

For nearly a century, the family-run processor of chicken products, Brakebush Brothers, has been in business. It creates a range of chicken products with additional value for industrial sectors, chain restaurants, and foodservice.

With the acquisition of Lake Foods, Brakebush continues to run its headquarters in Westfield, Wisconsin, and currently runs five production plants across the country.“The acquisition of JABEX is an exciting expansion of Dawn’s manufacturing capabilities and customer base in Europe,” said Carrie Jones-Barber, chief executive officer of Dawn Foods. “JABEX’s products are complementary to Dawn’s own industry-leading product portfolio. We look forward to working with our new team members from JABEX to deliver our insights, innovations and bakery expertise to even more customers, together.”

Chicago’s Downers Grove Hearthside Food Solutions has acquired two businesses in an effort to increase its market share in both Europe and the Americas. VSI, Leerdam, The Netherlands, will be acquired from NPM Capital, the firm announced first. The biggest manufacturer of diet, functional, and nutrition bars in Europe is VSI. In a different contract, Hearthside announced that it is buying a Post Holdings, Inc. subsidiary’s production facility in Boise, Idaho, for nutritional supplement bars.
