Better Juice and Ingredion will collaborate to expand their reach in the US.

Better Juice’s sugar reduction solution will be available in the US thanks to a partnership between Better Juice and Ingredion, Inc. Better Juice’s Series A capital round will be spearheaded by Ingredion Ventures, the company’s venture investing arm, in order to expedite the expansion. Better Juice raised $8 million in June 2021 to construct its first manufacturing facility in Israel.

Simple sugars are eliminated from concentrates, juice-based beverages, and other naturally sweetened liquids by Better Juice’s sugar reduction process. According to the company, Better Juice created an enzymatic process that transforms sugars into non-digestible substances such dietary fibers and non-digestible sugars while preserving the organic acids, vitamins, and minerals that are naturally present in the finished product.

Better Juice’s co-founder and co-chief executive officer, Gali Yarom, expressed her excitement over this significant partnership move. It is a great fit for the Better Juice market penetration strategy in North America. The non-GMO nature of our technology and its numerous applications impressed Ingredion. Leading food and beverage companies looking for sugar-reduction solutions for their products may find new opportunities as a result of this change.

Better Juice contains patented beads made of non-GMO microorganisms that create enzymes in their conversion process. According to the firm, the enzymes then change the fruit sugars in the juice, such as fructose, glucose, and sucrose, into non-digestible molecules and healthier prebiotic fibers, allowing for a 30%–80% reduction in sugar content. Additionally, businesses can choose how much less sugar to add to their products thanks to technology.

According to the company, Better Juice has developed its sugar reduction technology to a commercial scale in the US and can handle about 250 million liters of sugar reduced juice annually.

According to the company, Better Juice and GEA collaborate to manufacture the bioreactor and install the technology at other facilities.

A group of academics and business professionals launched Better Juice in 2018 with the goal of providing healthier food options with reduced sugar content.
