A commodity advisory company names a new boss
A new leadership has taken over at Beeson & Associates, Inc., which offers foodservice and food manufacturing industries specialized commodity management solutions.
After 26 years as president, Matt Beeson, who started the commodity consultancy firm in 1995, will take on a consultant role. Prior to starting the company, Mr. Beeson worked in purchasing and procurement for Brach’s Candies, The Pillsbury Co., Kentucky Fried Chicken, and The Sosland Publishing. He has also spoken at the Sosland Publishing Annual Purchasing Seminar in the past.
James Stewart will now lead the company as CEO and take charge of the energy practice. Following a lengthy career in commodity risk management, with an emphasis on energy markets and procurement, Mr. Stewart joined Beeson & Associates in 2011. He has created multiple bespoke risk management systems for different commodities and has vast experience in all facets of risk management and FASB 133 compliance. He oversaw all aspects of value delivery for Integrys’ clientele while serving as director of consulting for Integrys Energy Services, Inc. before joining Beeson & Associates. He held the positions of program manager, utility commodity leader, and commodity hedging for General Electric’s Consumer & Industrial division before to joining Integrys.
He graduated from Bellarmine University in Louisville with a bachelor’s degree in economics and the University of Louisville with a master’s degree in business.
The ownership of the farming practice will now belong to Alex Norton, who has been named president. In 2008, Mr. Norton became a commodity analyst with Beeson & Associates, specializing in the grains markets. His research and analysis have shaped suggestions and risk management plans for a variety of commodities over the years. He briefly worked for the health care consulting firm Lash Group prior to joining Beeson & Associates.

He graduated from Wake Forest University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and the University of Massachusetts with a master’s degree in business administration.
“It was time to let the guys doing the work to take the lead after 26 years of working with our consulting clients,” Mr. Beeson wrote in a Linkedin post. James Stewart currently holds control of our energy practice. It is an agricultural practice owned by Alex Norton. Both of them have been essential to the expansion of their spheres of influence.
